Why is charm deceitful?
"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
-Proverbs 31:30
In this world, many people mistakenly believe their value is based on temporary and transient things. But our value isn't derived from what we do, what we have, or how we look. We are valuable because we have been created by God in His image. Through faith in Christ, we are called by His name. We are adopted into the family of God forever. None of this is based on external or superficial factors.
In our culture, there is a great amount of pressure placed upon women in particular to pay attention to their appearance. In some contexts, women are treated differently based on how they look. Sadly, some women base their entire sense of worth on their continually changing physical attributes.
Physical beauty is a fleeting thing. It lasts for a season, then fades away. It isn't something that can be trusted, and our sense of worth should never come from it. But a woman who reveres and respects the Lord is graced with a lasting beauty that reaches to the core of her being, and doesn't fade like our physical appearance.
In Christ, you are loved, you are transformed, and you are beautiful. His righteousness has permeated your heart, and your life is a reflection of His genuine love.
